Cats of Transnistria is a slow and deep trio from Helsinki, Finland.

The album title Opium depicts the atmosphere and the impact of the album. One of the ambitions behind our slowly pulsating music is to soothe the nervous system. The second meaning can be found in the repeated themes behind the songs: hedonism, escapism, addiction and losing oneself.

In addition to the core duo Henna Hietamäki and Tuomas Alatalo, the violinist Sanna Komi is featured on the album, adding profound beauty through her string arrangements.

Cats Of Transnistria
1) Cat: A carnivorous mammal (Felis catus) long domesticated as a pet and for catching rats and mice.

2) Transnistria: Transnistria (also called Trans-Dniestr or Transdniestria) is a breakaway state located mostly on a strip of land between the River Dniester and the eastern Moldovan border with Ukraine. It is internationally recognised as part of the Republic of Moldova but whose de facto independence is maintained with the assistance of Russian forces.

PS. Our friend told us that while he visited Transnistria, he did not see any cats.
